Dreamless by Josephine Angelini6/12/2023 “Compelling…Brutal…This romantic, action-packed tale will appeal to ‘Percy Jackson’ fans who are ready for more mature fare. This fantastical dual-world page-turner introduces more abhorrent mythological creatures while reuniting readers with Helen’s supportive high-school friends, as well as the crazy Delos family, who anchor her between the real and mythological worlds. Dreamless and its sequel will be well-liked by fans of contemporary renderings of classical mythology. There is a healthy dose of classical deus ex machine and tantalizing hints of a third book in which all-out war erupts. Romance alternates with fast-paced action from above and below. Starcrossed plays out like a movie in your head.” - Sophie Jordan, New York Times bestselling author of FIRELIGHT Dramatic and intense! The andromeda book6/12/2023 Some of these novels touched on the science sandbox he wrote in later on but with pulpy, crime-thriller twists.Īll the books are set in the late 1960s and ’70s and were in a way his tribute to Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, and to one of his favorite Alfred Hitchcock films, To Catch a Thief. Perhaps Crichton didn’t want to mix writing prescriptions and prose, but he used the John Lange pseudonym for Odds On (1966), Scratch One (1967), Easy Go (1968), Zero Cool (1969), The Venom Business (1969), Drug of Choice (1970), Grave Descend (1970) and Binary (1972). The eight books comprise unconnected tales of fiction in numerous genres and will be shopped to studios and streamers for potential film/television adaptations. This side pursuit also came prior to his first breakout novel done under the Crichton name, 1971’s The Andromeda Strain. This was long before Jurassic Park, ER and such, and he wrote the first three titles while matriculating at Harvard Medical School. Now, the estate of the author who died in 2008 has made another major deal to bring his work back to new audiences.īlackstone Publishing has made a seven-figure deal with CrichtonSun to acquire the worldwide print, eBook and audiobook rights to Crichton’s first series of novels, which he wrote under the pseudonym John Lange. Michael Crichton’s brilliant mix of science and narrative resulted in north of $10 billion in film and TV revenue and 250 million books sold.

Saloma furlong why i left the amish6/11/2023 Many would claim the Millers to be a dysfunctional family. It is also Saloma Miller Furlong who pulls back the veil and exposes what we as outsiders would consider abuse and hypocrisy within the Amish culture. We share their family life and are introduced to their fear based church dogma that requires community over individuality, unquestioned male authority / female subordination and living off the grid. Thanks to Saloma Miller Furlong we move in with and sit elbow to elbow with one Amish family. What is it about the Amish culture and religion that intrigues us? Is it the romance of a simpler lifestyle? The pastoral scenes of horse drawn buggies with barefoot children in quaint clothing? Their self-sufficiency and industrious work ethic? Unless we live among or work beside the Amish we probably don't have a realistic picture of what it means to be Amish.
